Beginners: The basics

The basics of clay start small for everyone; the hand pinched pot. We move on taking you into various hand building techniques and then onto the wheel to learn centering and opening small forms.

1.      Class lasts 8 weeks and meets once a week for 3 hours. First 7 classes are for making items and final class is to glaze works

2.      You will receive 25# clay and all necessary glazes and materials for firing works. You should bring a towel and apron.

3.      Cost is $295.00 for the entire session. Additional wheel time is $6.00/hr, no materials. Extra clay is $50 per 25#, all firing fees included.

And if i want to go beyond that…? Continuing classes beyond the beginner sessions are offered on an ongoing basis. We can accommodate almost any skill level.

Intermediate class

It's all about YOU! the classes beyond beginners focus on where you are and want to go because class size is limited and attention is personal. Your education on the wheel should continue because after all, no one gets better without practice and challenge.

Whether you’ve learned the basics here or with another potter, you will increase your vocabulary of forms and skills. Cost is $295.00 including 25# clay and glaze/fire fees for 8/3hr. sessions. Add’l wheel time $6.00/ hr no materials

Working with special projects & Firing Services:
 If you’ve had a special project that you would like to discuss, please let us know. We can assist you in creating that special piece of garden sculpture or dinner set you’ve dreamt of.

This could include a project you would complete at home and fire with us. We can advise you on clay, construction, glazes and finishes and firing options. Consider the size and placement of the form and bring in some drawings and ideas for a free consultation.

Firing of your works available by the piece or kiln load. Minimum $12 charge. 4 x 4 tiles, $1 each.

Anything you make out of clay is useless until it’s fired. That is the truth.

To gain optimum control over the creative process, a kiln is a must. We can build you a Gas fired kiln on site for a lot less than you could buy a fabricated one of the same capacity (about 75% less).

Pottery “outreach” -  Have wheel, will travel.

We can travel to your school or group or accommodate up to 20 in the studio for tours and demos of the process from earth to fire

Consider bringing your group for a short demo and explanation of the process. Please call for information.

 Parties and special events
To capture that special birthday, anniversary, promotion or just a fun afternoon in clay, allow us to help plan a party to remember!

Using our clay and help, you will be able to create your own special memento of a special occasion.

1.      You can start from scratch, fashioning out of raw clay, for us then to fire and finish for you. Ages 3 and up.

2.      We can make special items for you and your party to decorate. We fire and return.

3.      We can create custom award platters, cups, mugs with logos and more. Special and UNIQUE!

What Else Should I Know?
Minimum number for a Party is 5 people @ 2 hrs. Prices start at $29/person including materials & firing. Enquire regarding other options including travel to your site.

Attention all Scouts:  We are well qualified to offer all the requirements for your ceramics badge. Prices start at $29/ea, minimum 10 participants.
